Walt Longmire
Headed out soon for some salmon fishing. Going after silvers (coho) Hope to drag in a 12-15 pounder to steak out for the grill. Love the way Silvers fight. Like a Steelhead. On top of the water doing acrobatics.
G19 DB
Did some coho salmon fishing on Kenai a few years ago. Great fishing, great country, great eats!

MDLOTT
Couple of mackerel makes me happy :) I'm not a fan of Makerel, but ask Hannie about her Kingfish dip. That might be the only way to make that fish palatable.
Walt Longmire
Well I didn't catch one, but my son showed up and used my lure, my eggs, my weights and my pole holder. All he brought was his pole and reel. Yup, he caught the silver. Lady next to me lost one. Lots of seals in the river. Plenty of fish jumping. Will try again tomorrow. Walt Longmire
Were you on the Kasilof? We were fishing from the bank on the lower Kenai. Still a little early for Silvers there, but had to try.

Mackerel seem to be a love it or hate it fish, but I find it is usually because people are doing it wrong. Just last night I converted several people. Sake kasu marinated Spanish brushed with a hint of teriyaki at the end of grilling. Fantastic.
