It's a hell of a bird. I know that Hughes got rolled up into McDonnell-Douglas and Boeing bought MD in 1997. MD Helicopters is still making several variants of the 500 series helicopter. I don't know if they are a division of Boeing now, or a standalone company. I've driven past their facilities in Mesa, AZ many times. I've only ever gotten to fly in one once and I loved it. The responsiveness and agility were damned impressive. I've lived a couple of places where the police use the NOTAR version of this helo.
