While the world enjoyed a weekend, this went on today:

In line with the trajectory was Ramstein AFB, Germany and American troops.

Both the Germans and Americans went on alert before the RVs landed in NW Russia, near Arkhangelsk.

This nonsense is the kind of thing that is far too close to misinterpret.

Happened one night I was on alert. Out of the blue we got the message to take the keys and codes out of the safe  AND INSERT THE LAUNCH KEYS.

At the same time as us, bomber crews were running to their aircraft to start engines and take off - the famous MITO..

The next message we would have gotten within a classified short number of minutes was either turn keys or take them out of the key switches.

The US had launched two missiles before at the same time out of Vandenburg going down our Western Test Range. The Russians had also launched two before out of Tyuratam going down their test range.

Two Minuteman III, intercontinental ballistic missiles are launched twelve seconds apart. This launching is part of the Strategic Air Command readiness Exercise, Global Shield 79 - U.S. National Archives Public Domain Image

Tami McKnight on Twitter: "That was crazy. In 30 years, I've not seen a double launch before. And the second one seemed to go a different direction than usual.… https://t.co/RnhA4DooHQ"

One night the satellites picked up three heat blooms at the same time. Since no one had ever seen three before, SAC automatically put everyone on the highest alert.

It took a few minutes for them to track trajectories and when they saw them going down their test range, they basically said to the crews,

NEVERMIND.

A long few minutes that night.
