TBO
A Minnesota judge has taken the unusual step of allowing four protesters to use a “necessity defense,” enabling them to present evidence that the threat of climate change from Canadian tar sands crude is so imminent that they were justified in trying to shut down two Enbridge Energy oil pipelines last year.....(more at link) http://www.twincities.com/2017/10/17/minnesota-judge-allows-unusual-defense-for-4-pipeline-protesters/ ------------------------------------ Yeah, UFB!

JArthurD
Not sure I would want to be the defense attorney charged with proving something that has not yet happened. For that matter, can this defense be used for murderers who kill because they “believed” the victim posed an “eventual threat?” -Looks like a slippery slope. zahns
An appeals court seems to agree. A slippery slope to be sure. http://www.startribune.com/appeals-court-allows-unusual-necessity-defense-for-enbridge-protesters/480571291/
