You're point is well taken.  the actual cost to America may be far more than money when it's measured in lives lost to a terrorist following in many countries.

It's very hard to put a price on the life of a loved one.  The same culture that promotes terrorism within the USA isn't worth the risk to find the few good people. 

You have to trade American lives as the cost of finding the few of many that really want freedom and liberty.  Most come here and institute the same subjugation of family and neighbors as they left in their country of origin, then claim government benefits for nothing.  That's not worth the cost to us.
