Mayhem like me
Who is a fan? I personally really like the show and am amazed at the skill that some of these Blade smiths posses to turn out a custom knife during the show constraints.
ranger99
I'm becoming a fan as well. Some of these guys can forge a really nice knife/sword.
JohnKSa
I will admit to watching and enjoying it. I've learned a lot from the discussions on the show, and while researching questions that came up from things I see during various episodes. It's a fun show. Jalcon
It's a good show. Seems a bit more realistic than other reality shows. They don't try and create fake drama which is cool.

minervadoe
Doug Marcaido seems like he'd be a really cool instructor to train under. Calm, controlled training where he is a good example of a martial art goal: training with no ego (and, "it will kill').
Mayhem like me
Doug is a righteous dude! I was lucky enough to train with him in the 90's for some knife defense, my takeaway was if I had two straight stick or Nunchucks I would feel confident taking on a knife other than that I'm getting cut on the disarm no matter how novice the knife wielder. minervadoe
I have something upwards of 4,600 hours of aikido training, and even when someone is coming at you with a wooden knife it takes a lot to steady your nerves. An attack with a live blade would be a totally freaky nightmare scenario. But, the carnage from somebody of Marcaido's skill level is unimaginable. I saw one video where he was training somebody from a European Dojo and the guy was totally unprepared to be in the demonstration. Rather than humiliate the guy, or insult his instructor, Marcaido simply asked, "How long have you been training?" I suspect he was surprised when the guy said, "Three years." It was subtle, but I've seen some brazen show of egos from various instructors in my travels, and I believe that what I've seen of Marcaido shows him to likely be one of the best. Administrators Eric Posted September 29, 2017 Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2017 It will Kiilll! Yeah, I like it. I'm a fan of shows where things are made. I miss the show How It's Made. I love stuff like that. I am a real fan of edged weapons, so this show was a no-brainer for me.
JohnKSa
I miss the show How It's Made. They're still airing new episodes on the Science Channel. I've been known to watch an episode of How It's Made now and then. Good show.

minervadoe
There is a "How It's Made" channel on Youtube. They seem to be more focused, subject oriented and compact than on the regular show, but it's a pretty good way to view them. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWBkudOTaVbvkCBc0pyZFMA

I liked the How It's Made: Supercar Edition, but they did a pretty bad job of narrating the episodes. Every episode would have several instances where the narrative was out of sequence with the video being shown, or the info in the narrative was just plain wrong. It was still some great video coverage of the making of some truly iconic cars.

Pistolay
I'm not a knife person and neither is my wife, but we binge on Forged in Fire every Tuesday night. We miss J. Neilson though. Apparently he's only going to do a couple of shows this season.
