sdsnet
Hi Folks, I'm using Robokiller https://www.robokiller.com/ This app works well. I suggest configuring it to hang up right away as opposed to the other programmed responses it provides. There are phone scams that use any response as justification to bill your cell account and can be a pain to fight.
minderasr
I've been using Nomorobo for years with good results.
Mike
If the number is not programmed into my phone, I don't answer the call. If they do not leave a message it was obviously not important, so to bad for them.
Oldmick
I just installed "Hiya" for the iPhone. Need to use it for a few weeks and see how well it works. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/hiya-caller-id-and-block/id986999874?mt=8 Edited August 13, 2018 by Oldmick

Swampfox762
I use Mr. Number on my cell. It does a decent job and is Free. I got rid of the Landline long time ago.
BadAndy
I've tried Hiya in the past but actually had better success with the app 'Should I answer'. If I remember correctly, at the time I switched to Should I Answer, this app could take more control and settings that worked to stop calls from getting through. The only thing that concerns me and this may just be my own sense of concern from own career in IT is that Should I Answer is a Czech company where Hiya is based in Washington USA. Haven't noticed anything concerning since the switch though.
mmcbeat
Probably doesn’t do any good but when a suspect a scammer I answer the phone, “Sheriff Department, Fraud Division”. Soothes my soul! 1
crockett
Got tired of my prior, Miami based and invested number. When I moved I got a new one with Beverly Hills area code and now I get maybe 3 scammer calls a year and no more collections crap resulting from people who provided fake numbers. Not too many people end up in Beverly who can't pay their bills. Was a tip from a local ATT employee, works like a charm. On top of that, I don't answer ANY calls, its always on silent and I see calls only when in my home office or when I'm out of town. I call back when and if I want. I also never updated banks, insurances, etc with my new number. Got tired of their marketing crap and bullshit text confirming that my internet plan was successfully paid. Doh! Was the slave to calls, emails, texts, staff and people trying to sell me BS for way too long. I really miss the 80s when basically nobody had a mobile phone. You arranged everything in person, and people showed up in time. These days every meeting needs to be confirmed 3 times or it doesn't mean **** and then you still get a text being told that the other side is late. I know so many guys who turned into the slaves of their wives. They call all the time with some bullshit, always checking and controlling, or telling what to do and where to go. My ex tried that stunt for a while. Did the exact opposite and let her know that I'm not down for this wireless leash crap. Major fight over it. Half a year later she moved out. Control freak BS. AMEN BROTHER CROCKETT!!! As God as my witness, cell phones, or more specifically smart phones, have fucked up our culture more than any other thing that's come to pass since the 1960's, and I was too young to have much to do with that hot mess. While many will loudly proclaim the technological progress of online banking, the convenience of texting, and the velocity of business or other such bullshit, we now have online bullying, predatory behavior of creeps poaching our kids, bulging credit card debt from instantaneous "hot deals", and 12 year old boys addicted to porn. (Say what you want about porn, but it seriously fucks up the concept of relationships as it comes to our very young men). I really wonder if I'll ever work up the courage to just chuck the damned thing out the window on my way home someday. How liberating that would have to feel........
Desert Kraut
My mother's sister was a legal secretary and a tough old bird. She survived WWII in Berlin, Germany when the Russians took it over and could handle just about anything. She was getting anonymous phone calls from some jerk. He wouldn't speak, the heavy breather type. After the second call she received and hung up, she decided to deal with it her way. The next time this jerk called, she told this creep "hang on just a minute, I want to get a cigarette and don't want to miss a thing". The guy never called again.
