Everyone can use a little “grammar” update now and then so here's yours for today.

Is it “complete”, “finished” or “completely finished”?  No English dictionary has been able to adequately explain the difference between these two words - “Complete” and “Finished”.

In a recent linguistic competition held in London and attended by, supposedly the best in the world, Samdar Balgobin, a Guyanese man, was the clear winner with a standing ovation which lasted over 5 minutes.

The final question was: 'How do you explain the difference between
COMPLETE and FINISHED in a way that is easy to understand?  Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE and FINISHED.'

Here is his astute answer:

"When you marry the right woman, you are COMPLETE.  When you marry the wrong woman, you are FINISHED.  And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are COMPLETELY FINISHED!"

He won a trip around the world and a case of 25 year old Scotch!

I know many of you won't believe this, but I swear it's true.

Walking through Home Depot, inexplicably wandered past the battery tool display.

I picked up a driver and looked at the $300 price tag, then set it back down.  My wife jumped in and said, "Do you want it?".

Then she said, "Buy it if you want it!".  I swear I could hear a sudden intake in breath of at least 6 other guys in the tool section, while she kept badgering me to "Buy it!,  Buy it!".

She has so much jewelry and clothes that I buy her, that she is constantly suffering from a guilt complex.  Being a guy, and having no sense of the feelings for my wife, I say, "No, I really don't need it".

Now she follows me all around the store pestering me to buy something!

Psychology is a perverse and wonderful subject to study!

In La Spizia, Italy, I was walking into town from the harbor and watched women come from their respective houses, and proceed to sweep their side of the street in front of their house.  It was a beautiful little city in 1959.

There must be large areas of Russia that have no one there.

Or have cities that seldom see those from other areas of the world.

Being a ham radio operator I've talked to people in places like that.  Cities that you just can't imagine are there.
