"Mexican police officers from the border state of Tamaulipas killed eight gunmen from Los Zetas during a clash in Nuevo Laredo. The shootout took place only miles from the Texas border.

The shootout is the latest in a series of battles where the CDN used armored vehicles with mounted machine guns, .50 caliber rifles, and grenade launchers to spread terror throughout the city. Tamaulipas state police have managed to kill at least 20 gunmen in recent days. Photographs from previous shootouts reveal further examples military-style clothing being worn by CDN’s operational group called Hell’s Troop or “Tropa del Infierno.”

On Thursday morning in the Valles de Anahuac neighborhood, members of a special forces unit with the Tamaulipas State Police clashed with a group of eight from the Cartel Del Noreste (CDN) faction of Los Zetas, information provided by the Tamaulipas government revealed."

In spite of the fears of liberals, our border patrol should have the capability to fend off and eliminate any level of violence on our border, resulting from opposing government military forces or drug cartels.

We either defend our borders and our boarder patrol services from armed assault of any level of force, or cede the control of our nation to criminals, foreign nationals, and illegals.  We either have sovereignty or we have nothing.

Sadly, in Mexico, the local police, the state police, Federales, and the Army are as corrupt as the cartels. I couldn't root for any of them.

Ciudad Jaurez averaged 8 murders/day until the Army was moved elsewhere. Across the river in El Paso, there were 7 murders for the entire year. Mexico isn't far from the designation of "failed country."
