Gunboat1
Occasionally, one may need to carry a knife in a non- permissive environment. You need to be armed, but don't want to risk having an expensive, quality knife confiscated or ditched to avoid discovery. Enter the "Tactical Paring Knife." Carry in the front trouser or coat pocket, indexed so it will be drawn in reverse (pikal) grip, edge towards you. When drawn, the sheath corner catches on the pocket edge and the sheath stays in the pocket. You become a human sewing machine/chainsaw. Or, you peel and eat your fruit. If you need to ditch the knife, you are only out about $10. I made the sheath in about an hour.
Huaco Kid
I've got many scattered throughout my luggage and equipment bags. Nicely sharp. They all come with a blade cover. All from the $1 store.
Gunboat1
I chose this specific knife carefully. The handle is perfect for reverse grip in either edge orientation, and it is strong enough to prevent snapping the blade off at the handle without great force. The TPR grip is nice and sticky. I like it. It also peels veggies and fruit well. 😄
ChuteTheMall
Or for about $12 from Midway you can order Cold Steel's version of the classic Canadian belt knife. It has a 4" blade and the sheath is similar to a Mora's. At 2.2 oz, it could even work as a neck knife.
