Think I may have posted this before. Sorry if I did. Dave. The first .22 rifles I learned to shoot with, were '03 training rifles (My dad had two) made for .22 long or long rifle, I forget which. The magazine loaded from under the stock. They were pretty ungainly for a little kid, but I made them do. Shortly thereafter, he bought a used 1942 Packard Clipper car, and found underneath the back seat, a Winchester model 74 in .22 short, that immediately became my rifle.
