A forensic review of his finances would be an easy task with a subpoena or warrant,  This is done every five years, or is supposed to, as a part of a background check for Government Employees for a Security Clearance.  If Tony the CBP  guy that works at a POE, and he makes 70k a year, and Tony is suddenly buying McMansions and high end sports cars, OPR is going to review his financial records through a FINCEN.  If there is far more money than he makes, he is put under the microscope by U.C.'s and if they find him taking money, they put the hooks on him.  Now, if the same guy is living in an economy where that money spreads far, and he can't seem to make things work, and it turns out he is gambling his money away, he becomes a security risks for bribery.

So, when wrong doing like this is suspect at the level of Congr3ess, a Special Prosecutor can be appointed by the Executive to do a forensic financial background.  This would not be a hard thing to either prove or disprove.  Now, is he politically thumbing his nose at Pelosi, trying to get it on Twitter, and a bluster to media, time will tell.  But, if he is serious, I suspect Charlie Wrangle will look like a choir boy compared to Cummings.
