pipedreams
Officials at the Mullis Community Senior Center on San Juan Island in Washington state recently banned members from saying their traditional prayer and Pledge of Allegiance before lunch, forcing them to huddle in the corner around their own flag to pay tribute to American freedom. But a subsequent crackdown to enforce the ban has reportedly resulted in members of the local American Legion arrested for trespassing with American flags, as well as reports of senior center staff roughing up elderly members who insist on reciting the pledge. http://www.theamericanmirror.com/american-legion-members-arrested-at-wa-senior-center-after-leading-banned-pledge-of-allegiance/ http://www.sanjuanjournal.com/letters/pleading-for-the-pledge-letter/

wjv
I think all of those seniors should should do a "Occupy" the new senior center and recite the pledge every half hour until someone fires that a-hole manager. 1
janice6
"Heil Hitler" pledges allegiance to a person, Hitler, while our Pledge of Allegiance pledges to a country. If that dolt is too stupid to see the difference than he's acting just like a Hitler!
Moshe
Here is the thing, unless someone has checked out and permanently, which sadly I have seen, you cannot convince a group of elderly people from pledging allegiance to the flag unless they want an old man strength knuckle surprise.
janice6
Patriotism is a passionate subject. One that has little downside. This is a simple example of the elderly being treated as an adolescent by liberals full of guilt, being told what to think, not how to think. Problem is with the elderly, they have seen a lot that riles their senses unlike children, they will fight. Old people spent a lifetime honing their beliefs.
