You know this is all about the hush money. She wanted some. Didn't get it.

I think the Dz knew they had a weak witness that could breakdown and be uncooperative in testimony. The last thing they wanted to do is get her in front of the nation on TV and have her meltdown. 

She had nothing but a story on paper, no witness or evidence to back up her story. The Dz LOST again, spent more political capital they did not have and now have to go to plan B.

To tell the truth, I think that they really expected the candidate and the Republicians to take fright and back off just at a hint from the NYT and other media, like the Republicans have ALWAYS done before.

I think most of them have realized that this is the treatment THEY can expect from now on, and with Trump standing firm, they took the hint - or baseball bat to the head.
