I've had this old Camillus camp knife in my collection for a number of years, scales on both side were missing but otherwise the knife is solid.

This week, I finally got around to cutting slabs and getting them glued and pinned into place.

After a bit of shaping... still more to do near the bolsters, but I am all out of emery boards so will have to wait until I can get to the dollar store tomorrow.  I'm happy with it so far though.

On some dark oily rare hardwoods, I found that Johnson's Furniture Paste Wax is a beautiful finish.  it helps waterproof it until it collects enough oil from your hands to be waterproof, and it gives it a luster that compliments the grain nicely.
