42 mag generations

I notice that some say the 42 was unreliable, early in its history, because the mags were not reliable. I understand there are four generations now.

 

BUT, I have no idea what generation my mags are or what generation the ones I see for sale on the Net or at the gun show are.

 

Can someone list the markings for each?

I’ll tell you what I know, but it’s not the whole story. My 42 was purchased 2 years ago. It came with mags that were marked 02 on the rear of the mag, just above the baseplate. I experienced failures to feed using some hollow point ammunition. Ball never failed to feed. The problem involved the follower. I contacted Glock who exchanged my magazines for new ones that were marked 03. No further problems with the HP ammo occurred.

I have seen CDNN advertise what they call a 4th generation 42 magazine, but have no idea how, or if it is marked. I assume someone on the forum has more information. I hope this helps.  I carry my 42 everyday and have complete confidence in it.

Only 3 gens on the mags. Newest says 03. 01 is the original and 02 was the second.
