PNWguy
Ordered a factory replacement barrel for my M&P40c since the stock one showed some troubling accuracy tendencies. I figured for $70 it would be cheap insurance that I got at least one barrel that was decently accurate. New one arrived today from Midway still in the original packaging from S&W and it was rusting. Awesome. I plan on keeping it and just cleaning the rust off and hope it shoots well.
crockett
Oh man. That just doesn't look right, let alone for a new pistol barrel. Time for some steel wool on the ramp and I'd probably store it in a jar of motor oil or something.
PNWguy
S&W has not impressed me the last few years.
Mike
If accuracy is an issue with the stock barrel, I would suggest an Apex barrel as a replacement. If you can return that one I would and spend the extra coin on the Apex barrel. Edited October 31, 2018 by Mike

KKM also makes good barrels. https://kkmprecision.com/smith-wesson-mp-2-0-barrels/
JHB
Send that back and get the Apex night and day difference. I am in the market for a 22 target pistol and a Smith 41 isn't even in the running if I am going to spend north of $1400.00 it better work the first time Hammerli is the cheapest on the list. Most are $2000.00 +. If S&W wants me to do there QA work for them they will have to pay me for it.
