  1. I paid nearly $300 for the Redfield glass I still have. I contacted them when I started looking and found that the new offerings were what they were, or the old binoculars were fading. They should have been the last I ever had to buy, and really did make a good run. They aren't unusable, but are very fatiguing now. Conversation verbatim with Redfield rep: After asking for SN, rep: are they fogged? No rep: are they cracked? No rep: Will they focus? almost Rep: Do they have anything rattling? no rep: Sorry but they sound fine. They are old, and probably outlived their serviceable life. It just cost a phone call, so nothing lost and it was plain to see they had no intention of any sort of service, but for the upgrade, I can't gripe. For the service of the Redfield's, it is hard to find fault with that either.
  2. LMAO. Unfortunately for this selection, you can bring your checkbook or throttle your virtue. Hating China is quite the pass time, especially the last few months, but the market is what it is. With the experience I've had with all the German Engineering, I'd use caution. They may be fine and worth a try, but not for 5X the price. At least to me. Happy Shopping
  3. The old wisdom, and maybe the modern wisdom as well, says to get all the glass you can afford. There is a lot of truth in that. Eye relief, clarity, magnification, and weight are almost always better in the higher end, or used to be. Still, cheap and frugal are two different things and should never be confused.
  4. These were originally recommended I was looking at these Ended up with these No doubt the Vortex are top shelf and people are kinda ga ga over them, but the Celestron glass is crystal clear, and eye relief is amazing compared to my 35 year old Redfields that have bee dragged all over the western US and Texas. If the Redfields were ever that good, it has been long enough I don't remember, but at the time, they were "The last ones I'd ever buy". That didn't pan out. LOL Anyway, I don't think I'll ever use something enough or travel enough to spend the $$ when the off brand are amazing. The field of view has taken some getting used to. I was used to a 50 reticle and the 42 is more narrow. They gather light very well. The tech these days seems to have paid off. Happy Shopping
  5. No pics, but biscuits and gravy. I like breakfast sausage in the gravy, but pure comfort food is plain old biscuits and gravy. Anyone who tell you it isn't a meal, stop talking to them. No one needs that negativity in life.
  6. People tell me that often. No matter, it all tastes like that to me. Not interested in the first place. I already have a favorite. It's kinda like "Good" wine. Most of it I find undrinkable. I do like to try new things, though.
  7. Moving through the jungle and brush a large leaf out of the way, finding the basketball of a head behind it attached to 1000 pounds of tiger is rather unnerving. Realizing there isn't enough gun in the bunch makes for a surreal moment. Fortunately he was as spooked as we were. I put a bison down while hunting with a friend in Mn. My hat is certainly off to the natives that processed multiples in a day. It took the better part of 6 hours with two of us cutting to get things down to a manageable size and into a pickup. Walt, those moose are beasts. I wish I would have had the chance to chase one. Elk are a tough hunt where we hunted, but moose was always something I wanted a piece of.
  8. Some reference for the optically challenged. This is a Bald Eagle foot. Now you get an idea of the talon size above.
  9. Oh, they can rust. It isn't likely to, but they need care when exposed to sweat or water.
  10. Either is acceptable. Both spellings show up on bottles. Now, if you really want to stir the pot lets talk about how beans have no place in Chili.
  11. So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you won't be offended if we skip you invitation to the crawfish boil.
  12. So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you're the worst cook off Youtube? ?
  13. I don't know about the finger thing, but I'm with the Asian guy on this one. That woman has to be the worst cook on Youtube.
  14. Never cared for Scotch. May as well eat a bag of peat moss.. Some folks are ga ga over the stuff though.
  15. I just saw the kneeling, SJW virtue signaling has leeched it's toxic poison into baseball. Such a sad day.
  16. 454 Casull lever action with a matching revolver. Can be loaded up or loaded down and can even use 45 Colt. I don't see these being obtainable for some time. Maybe in a couple of years. Just something on my list that I wish I already had but thought motorcycles would be a good idea. LOL
  17. I like Tabasco Chipotle. It isn't going to have the heat that original Tabasco will, because it is a different pepper. It isn't supposed to have the heat either, it is flavor. There are lots of hot sauces out there, but the flavor is from the smoked jalapenos. Happy food wrecking.
  18. There is a seven screen Drive In about 35 miles from us. It is supposed to be nice. Right now it is probably a sweat fest. A lot of good times in the old home town at the Drive In. The movie Drive In was even filmed there. It's long gone now, but the bowling ally it was behind is still there. Galaxy Drive In
  19. https://caseknives.com/products/genuine-stag-small-stockman Amazon price. https://www.amazon.com/Case-Small-Stockman-Pocket-Knife/dp/B01G605UES/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=small+case+stag+stockman&qid=1595128013&sr=8-1 First Runner Up: https://www.amazon.com/Case-Small-Genuine-Stockman-Pocket/dp/B001DRP96O/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=small+case+stag+stockman&qid=1595128113&sr=8-3 Haven't priced one of these on the street, and figure they are some less expensive. I'm referring to a certain size and the stag handle. Still. I carry a Kershaw around that is much less expensive and is more of a hand size. It doesn't weigh down the bottom of my pocket. The thing I like about the baby Case.
  20. There are healing powers in baseball. MIL is fading in her mind. Baseball season being promised to start has her sharp these days. Things that stimulate her to the core get her going again and right now it is Texas Rangers Baseball. I've heard all about opening on the 23rd. Her sister was every bit as ga ga over the Braves. I like baseball, but have to like the team. College football? I can watch anyone and really enjoy. This year has been such a washout it is miserable.
  21. Will it happen this time? July 23. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/baseball-is-back-mlb-sets-60-game-schedule-starting-july-23-or-24-2020-06-23 This will be the third try for the year, I think.
  22. Both are required in Texas.
  23. WOW, someone broke the internet in my area. Both the services are out and my normal 25Mbs hotspot from the cell phone is chugging in the 3-4 Mbs range, so everyone is working off cell it would seem. All the peeps from Dallas area flee the metromess and invade our little slice of heaven and mess it up too. ? We have had power flickering for a couple of hours and when we asked the neighbor lady if she had internet, she told us several sections of the county were down for power. Good Times.
  24. I'm really amazed I haven't lost it. Over the years, I have several times, but it turned up. I have plenty of day use cutlery, and when I saw it was a C-note to replace this one I nearly choked on my coffee. A double tragedy. LOL I really like the thing and it's a perfect utility size. Maybe I can find another that doesn't tip the price tag scale so hard.
  25. This is a Small Stockman, Case. Stag handle. I have one that is up in age. I almost choke d when I saw the prices now. The whole thing is about 2 1/2 inches folded. I won't be carrying this one any more.
