  2. If you've never had the Hydrox brand of 'creme filled chocolate wafer' cookies, I would recommend you try them. I like them more and they are healthier ... as if that mattered to a cookie fiend like me. They were around before Oreo's and were the inspiration for Oreo's. In fact, IMO, the only reason Oreo's are more popular is because they were better financed. 6. Who is your favorite TV cop/detective/PI? For me, it is Andy Sipowitz, played by Dennis Franz, on NYPD Blue. His was a deeply flawed character, always at war with himself and the world, but he tried to be better. NYPD Blue was originally intended to be a vehicle for David Caruso, but Franz outshined him from the start. Caruso threw a tantrum and left the show in the second season and it went on to run for 15 seasons, with Sipowitz front and center until the last episode. Franz and Jimmy Smits were perfectly matched as partners on the show and I was sorry to see Smits go. The series of episodes where he got sick and eventually died were some of the most powerful TV drama ever filmed though.

  8. Wonder how much FTX money McConnell sent to Murkowski in Alaska? https://nationalfile.com/mcconnells-senate-leadership-fund-received-2-5-million-from-ftx/ "The now bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX donated $2.5 million to the McConnell-influenced Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC that withheld funding from or attacked a handful of America First, “MAGA” candidates for U.S. Senate. While the Senate Leadership Fund opted to cancel a critical $9 million in ads supporting Blake Masters in Arizona, it did donate to senators who voted to impeach former President Trump. A similar story played out in the U.S. House of Representatives, where soon to be House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) used FTX funds to attack MAGA candidates in GOP primaries."

  9. I don’t see a picture of the shooter and they aren’t blasting White supremacy, so that tells you one thing.

  11. I once saw a really large woman jump on her husband’s casket, as it sat on the straps of the casket lowering frame positioned over the grave. Her weight broke whatever brake mechanism the frame has to hold the casket before the lever is thrown and it starts lowering. So, she is wailing, half the mourners are screaming and she rides the coffin into the ground. The ride was pretty quick because the winding mechanism had a hell of a lot more weight on it than it was set for and the coffin went down much faster than it’s normal pace. It took half a dozen guys to get her out of the hole and there was absolutely no dignity to be had during the process. I’ve been to hundreds of funerals and I’ve seen some crazy ****. That day wasn’t even the craziest, but it was certainly in the top three.

  13. Sometimes I wander the cemetery where my wife is buried and am amazed at the number of doublewide plots and markers with no death date for one spouse - someone who would be well into their second century if still alive. Then I wonder if “our” marker could end up that way.

  14. Seems there was a case where the alleged molester was being escorted off a plane by LEO and the father of the child turned from a bank of pay phones and shot the perp once in the head. Shooter was found guilty but sentenced to serve no time because he was not a menace to general society. This likely could not happen tiday because… no longer banks of pay phones

  15. My wife is suseptable to the Flu virus. My feeling is that Covid is similar to the Flu in this respect. I loaded her up with Vitamins, Zinc, and supplements. She has not caught the Flu nor any other respiratory infection. In the past she has frequently been hospitalized for Flu. I also take these preventatives. However, I have never caught the Flu and as I told my doctor, I don't believe I will catch Covid either. My wife and I changed nothing in our social habits during Covid and we haven't had a problem. We both are in our 80's and frequently visit our children and their famlies many of whom have had Covid, some repeatedly. We enjoy going out to dinner and meeting our waitstaff friends and continued to do so, without worry. When the first fear mongering started, I looked at the "advertised" numbers and the mysterious dissapearence of Influenza at the same time Covid started. I compared the numbers from Flu in the past to Covid today and found right away that I was being lied to. Even the advertised number of Covid deaths compared favorably to the former Influenza numbers. I believe this and will have nothing to do with the government forcing medical treatment on me or my wife.

  16. After 15 years of gradually losing people (and we're all old), they hired two new guys. Maybe I won't have to work 50 / 60 hours per week now. Right? I worked a week with the one guy. He just got out of the Navy (mid 20's?). He's a very nice guy and easy to work with. He's got the technical background. But he had his phone 1' from his face, 100% of the time. An hour commute on the first day. Not a peep out of him. I pretty much just gave up on showing him anything, and just did all the work. Even when we were talking to the customer managers at the start and end of the day. 100% phone. I don't think he was watching movies. A lot of it sounded like japanese cartoons, as far as I could tell.

  17. Good for her, hope she has a great experience. Lot's dads don't show their sons squat. I have a 16 year old grandson that loves to come out and work with me and his older brother. His dad is one of those that thinks he is kool and don't hold a job half the time. He eats it up when one us show him how maintain a chainsaw or run the wood splitter. At first I was careful and really kept an eye on him but now I pretty much trust him with anything we show him. Have to give him credit, if he's not sure he asks.
