Mandolin Wind

When I was finally able to have a car at college, I put an 8-track player in it and got three free cartridges with it.

Every Picture Tells a Story was one of them.

Great album.

Every Good Boy Deserves Favor by the Moody Blues and Marmalade's first album were the other two.

I could listen to each album  about twice through between Columbia and St. Louis.

Thanks for the memory.

Your a young whipper snapper then.  I drove all the way to the Motor City to " Muntz Cartridge City" to get a 4-track installed. Ads for the store were blasted on the AM radio band, CKLW.  Young sales women in short skirts, high heels and fishnet stockings.  To a young man of 17 I think I bought half the store waiting for it to be installed.  That was one of my first road trips.

Dave.

The funny thing is I'm seeing and hearing banjos, not mandolins.

I agree....Sometimes the instruments used in songs do not reflect the songs title as performed.  It's the song and how it's performed live on stage.

Dave.

So, you listened to that subversive Canadian radio, eh?

Yes, I am a mere strippling at 69 years old.

I have met Earl Scruggs on several occasions.

I have never met Steve Martin or Rod Stewart.

The hearts and flowers inlay of the pre-war Gibson banjos that Steve Martin is playing is just beautiful.

What was the question?

Hahaa.... yep.  That and KYW and WGAR out of Cleveland.  Then I got sucked into the depths of the emerging FM stations WNCR and WMMS.
