What ad did you guys watch? It’s not saying that ALL men are inherently bad... All I took away from it was that bullying and sexual harassment are bad, and that men should strive to police their own and set a good example to kids to quell that behavior. Who can argue with that?

Yes, it’s a bit odd that this life lesson is coming from a shaving company, but seriously; if you got offended by that, then you’re likely the kind of ******* they’re talking about.

I hadn't seen this before.

Soooooooo......Gillette got all PC-preachy, and decided to make an ad telling men how they should act. And how they've been wrong and evil throughout human history.

Interesting.

You're reading a lot into that.  Basically the commercial is noting that some dudes act like asses and it's on decent, not-ass dudes to tell Assdudes not to act like asses.  I fail to see the problem.

Commercials don't influence my buying one way or the other.  I'm not that fragile in my convictions.

In case you haven’t noticed, they use the term “toxic masculinity”, which is the toxic feminist term for all men who don’t toe their line.  Boys will be boys has always been a statement that boys are going to do rough and tumble things, not a green light to bully and intimidate.  As far as teaching boys by setting a good example, real men have been doing it for thousands of years, especially including being respectful of women.

The real problem is that way too many households have no male in the household to provide an example, an aspect of the toxic feminist teaching that women don’t need men, period.  So now, instead of admitting that men have a place in the family, they attack men for being men, instead of taking the position that women can’t handle everything by themselves and can use some help - more than child support.

So yes, the ad is attacking all men, including you, and me, just because of our gender.

The problem is not men, it is toxic feminists - that even most women disagree with.  One survey said only 10% of women describe themselves as feminists.

Man....you're missing the entire point.

I don't need any commercial telling me how to act, what to think, or preach to me that men are bad sometimes.

Everyone is bad some times, and to focus on males in particular is man-bashing. You can ignore that if you'd like, but I won't.

Well for one - the guy saving the kid from the bullies.  The PROPER way to handle that is to grab an ax handle or a golf club or something and go to work on some bully ass.  Avoid the head though - we want to wound, not kill here.  The ax handle saves time.  (Seriously that was a good message).

Then there was the bit implying that if you see a hot woman you shouldn't approach her.  Dude, I'm gonna try to talk to her and maybe ask her out - not rape her in the ******* street.

(well I'm married so I'm not gonna do ANY of that but you get the point).

The point is, I'm not insecure enough to be affected when someone points a finger at me and says YOU DO THIS, STOP DOING THIS - if I, indeed, do not do "this".

This is dudes pointing out to other dudes to not be asses.  The same way, I'm sure, women point out to other women to not be *whatever it is that women focus on*.

Your butthurt is out of proportion to what the commercial is trying to convey.  It's a commercial.  Seriously, get over it.

The fact that you can’t ignore a commercial that supposedly doesn’t apply to you... speaks quite a bit.

Real men aren’t bothered by petty TV ads.

The Socialist tide has attacked the "Old White Men", with vigor. This more recent barrage is directed at the contemporary White Male population. It seems the leaders of the Left has a recruiting drive to enlist males of the growing minorities.

Not everything is some overarching plot by sinister Leftist Socialists to take over the good white Christian males of America.

Sometimes, things like this are just a tidal shift in society and culture.

Take off the tinfoil, man.  I picture you in a dank basement room with newspaper clippings on a wall, connected by pushpins and red strings, muttering incoherently about The Leftists' Grand Plan To Win The World.  Go outside.  Get some fresh air.  Maybe watch a sunset.  Enjoy your life.

Can we keep this debate civil? Please make your points with intellect not insults. Thanks.

It wasn't an insult.  It was an observation.  Your posts are rife with conspiracy theories about how the Leftist will RULE US ALL.

If the shoe fits...

Accusing anyone of wearing a Tin Foil Hat is an intentional insult.  "good white Christians" meaning what?  Please put me on "Ignore" if you vehemently disagree. Thanks.
