SC Tiger
15 hours ago, Presguy said: I think the fact that firestations have giant kitchens, XBoxes, and awesome bathrooms seals the deal. I was let down when I discovered they didn't have poles, like I was told as a kid. If you need proof, just look here - I think it's telling that the lead items are recliners, with names like the "Xtinguisher" and an advertised 360lb load capacity. https://www.firestationoutfitters.com/ My son's cub scout pack toured the local fire station. It was pretty interesting. They have a fairly nice setup, but I wouldn't trade my house for it. I suspect older fire houses where the trucks are on the bottom and the crew living areas are above them have the poles. XBoxes etc are nice - but in reality they aren't all that expensive. A top-of-the-line XBox One X costs about $500 and will last for probably 5+ years.

Slotback
Well my neighbor is a fireman. He has never talked about how his station is. However he does stock his fridge with quality beer. And shares. He is clearly good to go. I give him $$ for my share of his quality beer. I try to be a good neighbor.

janice6
It's a meaningful gesture when someone spend a portion of their life, no matter how small, to take the time to tell you thanks for something you have done. The first responders deserve it, and I'm sure it makes the giver feel better. Kudos to all who serve.
Silentpoet
TBO were you looking for pictures of firemen? It's ok if you were, but I just did not know that about you. 3

I guess that some people having gone to their version of heaven don't like being dragged back.
Huski92
Most likely. That Xbox is one of the guys personal games. And , most likely, they aren’t playing them during the day. During the week, I’m busy from 7am to 7pm, and that doesn’t include calls and paperwork after that. Training, meetings, calls, paperwork, maintenance, chores., and special projects, we are pretty busy. Not like the old day(before my time), I guess. And, I have seen some really nice fire houses. And I have worked in and seen some really bad / old ones. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good job and I am grateful to have it. And, yes. OS’ers live to be ripped from their high. PNWguy
Having grown up in an LEO family, I am well aware of the quiet feud between firemen and cops. Firemen get all the glory and accolades (and money) while cops get pissed down their necks and told it's raining. Cops are Marines and firemen are Air Force, LOL.

The cops always hire more people. They get more “toys”. They just get more. We had our maintenance budget cut in half. These are expensive prices if equipment that require special maintenance. The good part is that we get along great with are PD and work really well together. They are good people.
