Remember these?

I really like the damn things. They do have three airbags, seatbelts, and a stiff steel roll cage, which makes them FAR safer than any motorcycle/scooter at least.

At 84 mpg highway, and a very low purchase  price, it's the perfect economy car, if you can swallow your pride.

It's sad to see that it'll probably never happen.

I remember them. The fact that they are still taking money / orders after so many delays sounds very fishy to me.

And no, you will never see me in one of those.

They advertise up to 84 MPH? Well, VW hit 88 MPG in a full size in PRODUCTION sedan, over 5 years ago.

It's a TDI. The diesel that the EPA and the US automobile / oil industry hates.

Man, those things are nice. I'd have one as a commuter in a heartbeat.

Got to see the prototype at the Altamonte Mall once. I'm big- 6 feet and 3 bills. I fit in it NO PROBLEM.

Plenty of room in back for a suitcase, school supplies, a dainty boyfriend, etc.

That stated, I believe Paul Elio is running a long-term scam, and the Elio will never come to market.

Roush is working with Elio to supply the 100HP 3 Cyl. engines and drivetrain.

but as Crockett said, the TDI already surpassed the MPG goal and even without the Emission violations.

in the next 5 years Diesel electric Hybrid cars will be taking over and well into 100MPG and the Elio will be obsolete,he missed his window by years.

Radio talk show host Lars Larson had an interview with one of the principals in that company. Not really my cup of tea but it was an interesting interview. I have to admit that it does look better than it sounded like on the radio.

When I was a kid in the 60s, there was a guy with a three wheeler that looked like an aircraft fuselage. It had a cockpit canopy and even steered with a stick. My dad said it was made by a German company and was designed for housewives to make trips to the market. Being an aviation nut even at 8 or 10 years old, I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. I wanted one bad. LOL...
