jmohme
I have no idea about the level of education in that state, but it is obvious that there is a larger amount of just plain stupid there! Most of the stupid is in government too! Edited December 20, 2018 by jmohme

Moeman
And the most noble prizes, Silicon Valley, biotech. Problem is we have so many languages spoken here from immigrants and working class stuff for the educated/middle class plus. And crops have exceptions for migrants, remember this is the biggest agricultural state also.

The math exam that has made it difficult for hundreds of new North Carolina teachers to get their license could be phased out as early as February, based on a recent vote by a panel of state education experts." Mrs.Cicero
Doesn't California have free college tuition for residents? Is this one more example of a gov't program that does not succeed at doing what it says it does?

If you did, you are probably wondering WTF??? They are expected to now evaluate what the student is thinking by how the student works the problem. The teaching of math no longer involves what worked for hundreds of years. Now good teachers can no longer understand how they are supposed to teach these invaluable life lesson experiences, much less explain them to their students. Once, local school districts controlled what was taught, and idiots trying to push this stuff were laughed out of town. Now someone takes this kind of idea to a Federal Department of Education, and now everyone has to use the idiot idea. Just start looking at all the textbooks out there, not just math. And we wonder at the dumbing down of American students? Hawk
