Three California residents were arrested in Massachusetts for allegedly smuggling more than 150 lbs of marijuana through an airport.

The arrest came after law enforcement from Sacramento County told Massachusetts State Police on Saturday that two people were flying into Logan International Airport from Sacramento with a large amount of marijuana.

With that information, troopers with the Massachusetts State Police and agents from Homeland Security Investigations did surveillance at the airport ahead of the flight's 6 p.m. arrival.

The two suspects were identified as a Jerry McNair, 48 of California, and Ladonna Hardman, 57 of California. Both were seen leaving the flight and heading to the baggage claim area where authorities say they met with an unidentified woman.

All three were approached by authorities once the suspects retrieved their luggage. Authorities say that McNair and Hardman were placed under arrest for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Both Hardman and McNair refused to consent to a luggage search, however, the third person, identified as Saudia Watson, 37 of California, consented to be interviewed at State Police-Logan and also consented to a search of her luggage, which bore a similar appearance to Hardman and McNair's luggage.

Police say they found a total of 51 clear plastic bags of marijuana that weighed more than 50 lbs in her luggage and arrested Watson for allegedly trafficking marijuana.

After being granted search warrants, troopers searched McNair and Hardman's luggage. They found an additional 49 plastic bags of marijuana weighing more than 50 lbs in Hardman's luggage and another 50 plastic bags weighing more than 50 lbs in McNair's luggage.

Authorities say that McNair and Hardman were charged for trafficking marijuana and all three suspects were charged for conspiracy to violate drug laws.

Didn't the three explain to the nice Troopers that marijuana is legal in California?  And anyway, it's only for personal consumption.
