Police bust out car window in marijuana arrest

Kenosha Police officers arrested a Kenosha man after a traffic stop in which they seized marijuana and a handgun from a vehicle in the 5100 block of Sheridan Road early Sunday.

The 37-year-old suspect was taken into custody in the 1:30 a.m. incident, according to Lt. Tim Schaal of the Kenosha Police Department.

Schaal said charges of felony possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, obstructing and resisting and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, second offense, were being recommended.

According to Schaal, officers were on a tavern patrol assignment when they initially saw an unoccupied vehicle with marijuana and the magazine for a weapon inside the car.

Later, when the driver returned to the car, officers pulled him over in the 5100 block of Sheridan Road in an attempt to search the vehicle.

The suspect, however, declined to cooperate. Schaal said officers had to “bust open” a car window to apprehend the suspect and seized the marijuana along with a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun.
