pipedreams
This is awesome. ARPAIO SUES CNN, ROLLING STONE FOR $300 MILLION'It's time that someone stood up to the Left's 'Fake News' media. "Arpaio never was found guilty of a felony, nor arrested and imprisoned, as one of the publications claimed. He was simply found to have committed a misdemeanor." https://www.wnd.com/2018/12/arpaio-sues-cnn-rolling-stone-for-300-million/ 1
Dric902
A Presidential pardon doesn’t erase a conviction, just the punishment. still a convict, still guilty, serving time is not the conviction it’s the consequence. guess he needs a headline. . Dric902
Criminal contempt of court carries up to six months in jail. He was convicted and pardoned the punishment. he wants a headline, dont build heroes. Real ones don’t need to be built up and fake ones won’t ever be one . Dric902
I liked Arpaio. he did some great things with G. Gordon Liddy back in the Treasury days. I loved it when he put gang bangers in pink and housed them in tent cities on work details. at some point it became more about the media coverage and not crime. Arpaio became “America’s Sheriff” and he became a news whore. As an officer of the court he is bound to follow court rulings, even if he doesn’t agree. (I know, I know. He pledged an oath to the Constitution not the liberal swamp deep state activist judges appointed by Barack Hussein Obama!!!!!!) and his oath to the constitution includes the part about judicial authority and the court review, the entire Constitution, not just the first 10 amendments (if you would like a list of heroes, I can provide one) . To be a felon, you have to be convicted of a felony, which he has not been. And the misdemeanor conviction is on appeal, which means that legally he hasn’t even been convicted of that. So anyone referring to him as a “convicted felon” is guilty of liable on the face of it. So he has a case worth trying. YMMV. Hawk 2
Dric902
Never said felon said convict he is appealing to get the conviction expunged on the grounds that he was pardoned and never sentenced. It will get thrown out as being sentenced is not required to be convicted. But it’s a headline .

And from what I read, they are appealing the conviction, which goes to an appeals court. Expungement is handled by lower courts. Hawk

He’s suing because they published articles describing him as a felon, which he isn’t. That’s libel. As a public figure it will be hard for him to win that, but I’m glad he’s going after them.
