Republican states are planning an all-out assault on woke banks: 'We won’t do business with you.’
'We're not going to pay for our own destruction,' West Virginia State Treasurer Riley Moore tells FOX Business.
Republican state officials are readying plans to punish woke banks which push anti-fossil fuel policies and adhere to so-called environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.
West Virginia announced last week it would bar five major financial institutions, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, from entering into banking contracts with the state treasurer's office or any state agency. Each of the five corporations had committed to policies limiting commercial engagement with the fossil fuel industry, which paid a whopping $769 million in taxes to West Virginia's state government.
"We're not going to pay for our own destruction, we're not going to subsidize that," West Virginia State Treasurer Riley Moore told FOX Business during an interview. "They have weaponized our tax dollars against the very people and industry that have generated them to begin with. That is why we're pushing back against this ESG movement."
He noted that U.S. Bancorp backed off its prohibition of fossil fuel lending and was, as a result, kept off the state's restricted list of financial institutions.
Moore's action, a first-of-its-kind response to major banks' ESG push, is likely to be the start of many similar actions nationwide. At least 15 Republican-led states, which collectively manage tens of billions of dollars in public funds, have proposed laws or policies that would similarly punish anti-fossil fuel banks over the last year, according to a FOX Business analysis.
"We've really seen, frankly, a weaponization of capital by some of the largest banks and fund managers in the world," Derek Kreifels, the CEO of the State Financial Officers Foundation (SFOF), told FOX Business. "If you want to make social change in this country, we have a democratic process that you should utilize to get that done."
The SFOF has assembled a "NATO-like alliance" of state treasurers and financial officers who are committed to forwarding free market policies, Kreifels added. The group and its members have focused in particular on ESG issues in recent months, confronting the federal government, banks and S&P Global, a credit rating agency that assigns ESG scores.

Turns out DeSantis didn’t know his office had turned down The View.
Governor DeSantis had no idea that his office had turned down the invitation from The View.
It turns out that he learned about it when it hit the news.
Gov. Ron DeSantis was unaware his team declined an invitation for him to appear on “The View” until after the fact, but said he wasn’t interested in being involved with “partisan corporate media,” the Florida Republican told Fox News on Thursday.
A DeSantis aide, Bryan Griffin, recently tweeted an email he sent to “The View” rejecting a request for an interview with the Florida governor. Griffin questioned whether the hosts were genuinely interested in hearing about his objectives.
“I didn’t know that that had been declined until I saw it in the news, because I think my staff knows better than to even bring that to me,” DeSantis told Fox News. “I don’t need to be involved with some of the partisan corporate media.”
Griffin, in his response to ABC’s “The View,” listed criticism and insults hosts Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro said about DeSantis. He asked which of those his team should consider while deciding if an appearance would be worth the governor’s time.
“They’re free to say what they want. It doesn’t bother me,” DeSantis told Fox News. “But I don’t want to give any of that oxygen.”
“So we’re just going to keep our nose to the ground,” the Florida Republican continued. “While they’re doing whatever they’re doing, I was here working on this issue with the Soros prosecutor and also working on many, many other issues where we’re delivering results for the people of Florida.”

Democrat Murder Capitals
When you vilify law enforcement and refuse to prosecute crime, you get more murder.

This topic is truly sad. Murder is the horrific act of stealing life. Its effects are scarring to families and communities. As long as there is sin in this world, there will be murder. But the willful policies that Democrats have put in place in their cities are encouraging this particular type of crime to fester and grow.
According to Crime Analytics, a website that keeps track of crime statistics, the cities with populations of 200,000 or more with the most murders per capita are New Orleans, Baltimore, Birmingham, St. Louis, Milwaukee, and Cleveland.
Of the top 31 cities cited by Crime Analytics, only four are run by Republican mayors. That means that about 87% of the murder capitals are run by Democrats. (The percentages should be even more polarized because Las Vegas’s mayor was originally a Democrat who changed parties because the wokesters left him behind. And, really, should Virginia Beach even count?) Mind you, this murder rate is only per capita. Unsurprisingly, the city with the most murders overall is Chicago. This is a major factor in so many businesses, and sports teams, leaving that city.
What does this all point to? It’s what we have been talking about again and again, Democrat-run cities, especially those that are more in the progressive “woke” camp, champion policies that encourage crime, not dissuade it.
How do they do this? They have in large part verbally denounced their law enforcement and/or fiscally handicapped them. Mayors like London Breed of San Francisco were big proponents of the “defund police” movement, which got a lot of traction after the death of George Floyd at the hands of a few reckless police. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot defunded the Chicago police force in 2020, only to quickly realize what a huge mistake that was. She refunded it in 2021.
Vilifying police both by word and deed has also led to a decrease in recruitment numbers. After all, who in their right mind would put their life on the line for a community led by these voices that tell them they are racists and corrupt to the core?
Where you have Democrat mayors you also have Democrat district attorneys who are what infamous socialist billionaire George Soros calls “reform-minded.” That means these prosecutors are uninterested in going after criminals and bringing justice to victims. They are, however, interested in upending the law enforcement system that they see as systemically racist. It’s worth pointing out that the vast majority of these Democrat mayors are black. If there was systemic racism, would they even have been elected?
The surging crime and horrific loss of life at the hands of murderers is a tragic consequence both of sin but also of removing deterrents and boundaries in the law, largely thanks to poor governance. This particular data set is an indictment of those policies and the tragic consequences on their communities.

After the 2020 (s)election of Brandon as our Cadaver in Chief, I was tired of the mean tweets and constant turmoil. I was inclined to favor new blood and DeSantis looked like a great candidate (still does).

Over the ensuing weeks and months, as the spittle flecked Dems impeached, investigated and inveighed against Trump, while slandering DeSantis every chance they could I realized, I really, really want to see Trump back in office. I really, really want to give a great big middle finger to the half of the country that wants to deny me my candidate of choice.

The more the Dems try to deny me that option the more determined I become to vote for him a third time.

Here’s hoping for a Trump/DeSantis ticket in 2024!
