Dimarzio guitar pickups has a long history of copy writing and trademarking other manufacturers work then suing them out of business.  Or finding a patent that they want, filing a completely unrelated patent, then suing the real patent holder until they can no longer afford to fight.  Or licencing a manufacturers own intellectual property back to them.  Long ago Springfield Armory trademarked "Racegun" then tried to sue anyone using the term.
