BMyers
My wife's personal trainer does pole dancing for the fitness and competition side. No, she doesn't do it in clubs, but as an actual competition.
jilverthor
I would agree that if she really is an instructor and not dancing in a club (which is what the article claims), it should just fine and that she should emerge from the investigation unscathed.

They are all in incredible shape.
JTMac
I have want to believe in the idea of pole work as a purely exercise or art separate from the practice of stripping... But every single time I see a school or instructor taking that position, that claim breaks down somewhere (even if their are students for whom it is true individually). It doesn't HAVE to be that way, but somehow it always seems to be. I'd love it if we lived in a world where my first assumption was that the claim that it was just "an artform and a good way to stay in shape" was accurate. But having been disproven every time I've taken someone at their word on it, I'm skeptical. Regardless, people can do what they want, and the school district can have its own standards. I agree that I am skeptical, but if true I see nothing wrong with it. If false, well she might be turning to that full time. Only time will tell.

So THAT'S the excuse they give you? Seriously though - pole dancing is a "thing" for fitness. At one point Teri Hatcher was doing it I know (saw something on the news about it). If that's all she was doing she might wind up with a nice hefty settlement and her job back, What this seems to be is a bunch of old guys and gals who don't know the difference between stripping and pole dancing.

It does, and I guess I am saying if that really is all she does then this should go away. Someone else mentioned settlement, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was one in that situation, but the point was more that some forms of exercise are abnormal, but not inherently lewd or wrong. And I am guessing (and I admit I could be wrong) that the district leadership thought she was stripping. Maybe they thought it was a "practice run" or something. Our educational system seems to suffer from too much assumption, and intolerance! Aren't these the same people that want to put people in prison for intolerance...………..
