Politics - anyone just not care anymore

I've come to a conclusion about myself with regards to politics:

I no longer give a ****.

Don't get me wrong - I vote and will continue to vote and I will continue to support candidates I like, but I think I'm just so saturated with the bullshit that I just don't care.

Is that bad?  Yes.  But it's how I feel.  I don't really understand what is going on with this whole Trump thing and I honestly have no desire to take the time to figure it out.  I know the process is screwed up.  But if Trump is out the next person will be treated the same way.  And the next.  And the next.  And on and on.

Basically - screw it.

Am I the only one who is honestly more worried about the upcoming college football season that the current state of political affairs?

I am just sick of socialist democrats trying to ruin the country. Yes. They could leave and go to one of the many communist / socialist countries, but democrats like to ruin things. Just like Boy Scouts. They could just change Girl Scouts, but they feel a need to ruin the Boy Scouts.

I voted for Trump.

Did I think he was going to be the perfect POTUS? No.

Did I vote for him to be my role model and friend? No.

Did I know that he was 100% better than Hillary? Yes.

Socialist can try to bring us down and tell us that the sky is falling, but I know that I am doing better this year. Do I get sick of politics? Yes.

That's a perfect example - you could have told me he had banged Stormy, the Playboy chick, and the entire cast of Beverly Hills 90210 and I would have voted for him in the general with ZFG.

Because Hillary was not an option.

Is he perfect? No

Is he an *******?  Yes

Was he just a teensy bit better than the opposition?  Yes

If anything, the current world of politics has me more engaged than before.

Yes, I too am sick of it all, but then, that is why I find myself more interested in what is going on and how to change it.

Let me be straight up about something. I really do not like Donald Trump. I think in many ways he is an embarrassment to this country, but I did vote against Hillary through him and do not regret it one bit. I do think that he has done a surprisingly good job so far even if neither the career democrats or republicans are willing to admit it.

When Trumps term is drawing to a close and the opposition candidates are (quite likely) as bad as last time, I will, without hesitation, vote for the buffoon again. In fact, I think this country would be far better off with a whole lot of Trump like buffoons running for any available seats in the mid term, because what I am really tired of are the obstructionist politicians on both sides that have been putting a stranglehold on our government for most of my life!

You hit on part of the problem - pretty much every politician is a buffoon, a snake, or an idiot.  Some a rare collection of all three.

As Rocket Racoon said "we have a large assortment of morons."

Yep.  Nothing I can do about it.  I vote and support candidates I like, but as the whole country devolves into a 3rd world socialist craphole, I am choosing to disengage trying to follow it all and just wait for the shooting to start.

It's all I care about.  Since President Trump's triumph over evil my employer has added 1800 new US employees.  Our clients have added 60K-80K.  And that's not including those added by their clients and partners or the construction of new facilities.  Each and every one has said that if the filthy democrat animals take either the House or Senate it all ends.  No new hires.  No new construction.  Zero US investment.  All further growth will be off shore.  And there is a lot of potential growth just waiting.  But they are all in a holding pattern until after the midterms.  That will be 6 months of stagnation just on the threat of the filthy democrat animals controlling just one house.  If the retard-centrics gain control of either house, closings and layoffs will occur as the filthy democrat animals sabotage the US economy.  Which is what they have promised to do.

I hop the media is just continuing to out itself and people are just getting more tired of them which result in a bigger victory in the midterms.  Hopefully the Rs have candidate worth winning across the country, I think the D has a good chance here since she is fairly well spoke and Heller seems to be a bit of a stooge.

It's hard to maintain enthusiasm when all I'm doing is hoping the second worst beats the worst.

They're all crooks and awful people. I have never known even one professional who is as big a scoundrel as Trump. Do you know anybody who has had an affair and committed crimes to cover it up? I don't. I can't even think of a colleague who has had an affair, and I can count the number of divorced engineers in my midst, including former colleagues over 20 years, on one hand. Cruz ended up looking like a scumbag by the time the last primary season was over. Bush (all three) did us no favors. The national debt is still climbing. Abortion is still as it was, and probably won't improve any time soon, even though the R's have a lot of control.

And that's not even getting into the Democrats, who might as well be called the Party of Satan.

I think there are are few exceptions - Trey Gowdy and Tom McClintock are a couple I can think of but yes, for the most part trash.  Trump would have made a great advisor but his techniques are not Presidential at all.  I think DC is such a garbage heap it is very hard for good people to stay good and we rarely start with good people.

I have never understood why elections are so heavily run with money.  Commercials and signs do not influence me.  A good biography on the candidate, some track record, statement of position, and then a debate are what matter.  All of that is available for free with the internet.  Might need some money for travel to get on certain podcasts etc.

I didn't vote for DJT based on who his old girlfriends were or what his ex wife had to say. I never heard of Manafort or Cohen when I voted or long after DJT took office. I didn't care who they were then and I don't care now. I judge the man on the job he is doing now, you know, the job he was hired to do.

He is the best president this country has had in a hundred years or more and he makes it look easy. That is why they all hate him so much. He has yanked that phony curtain off the whole scam and all those politician of both parties look like a pound of night crawlers on a hot damp summer night. All balled up together head to toe and you can't tell one end of any of them from the other.

There ya go. I think that is Gowdy and McClintock peeking out from the middle there.

With Trump - I think what I'm most sick of is the "hero worship."  I think he's done some good things and I voted for him (cleanest turd) but I don't think he's in the class of President as Reagan or some of the other greats.

And the "God's chosen President" thing infuriates me.  While he would never have been President if God didn't want it, the implications are infuriating.

I'm sure there are some exceptions, but it never ceases to amaze me what comes out of the woodwork.

I think they advertise because many voters choose based on extremely poor reasoning. I'll share an embarrassing story. In 1992, I was in college and was a skull full of mush. I remember thinking that Clinton would be better because he and Gore were good southern boys (like me) and not like that rich snob, Bush. That was the total extent of my thought process. I'm not even sure I could've told you which was an R and which was a D, or why I should care. MANY people think on that low level. There's probably a substantial percentage of people who would pick a candidate because they've heard of him, but not the other 3-4 candidates on the list. I'm sure many would vote for a candidate who showed up on a late night talk show and seemed like a cool guy.

Outrage fatigue

youre not alone

This is a well worn tactic that works.  Wear down the enemy until he is too tired or too bored to fight. Then you will win.  Same as attrition in the war sense.

You cannot sit on the edge of your seat waiting breathlessly for the next earthshaking non event to require immediate response to prevent the ending of the world as we know it and the supposed taking of all our beloved freedoms and liberties by the evil and corrupt globalists trying to usurp our beloved POTUS at every turn...........

...Endlessly

they have been trying to.....take your guns away, take your property away, tax you into oblivion, pay exorbitant reparations, end the white race, put your kids into servitude, force Sharia on you, enslave you, etc.......for the forty years that I have been paying attention.

a year before the election of 2016, the biggest meme was......your children will be slaves

The leftists are the ones that live in continuous outrage, we make fun of them for it

I think Dric902 has the right idea.  Don't let yourself get so saturated with it.  Pay just enough attention that you'll know when something big is coming down the pike.  And blow the rest of the stuff off.

Plenty of internet minutemen charging to their keyboards to respond to every threat..

a very thankless job as the sheeple never know the struggle to keep them free. Did you notice that the jack booted thugs in ninja gear didn’t land in your backyard and enslave you children last Tuesday afternoon.........you’re welcome.

Dont thank them, they seek no glory for themselves. It’s just what they are called to do for a country that they love so much *wiping away a tear*

oh no, did you see what Brennan said on MSNBC a moment ago......

red alert, red alert.....avengers assemble!......teen titans go!...all hands, all hands to keyboards....

I don't know that I'm tired of politics, but I'm certainly tired of the barrage of breathless outrage over whatever Trump has done or said today.  What the MSM doesn't seem to get is that the negatives they keep coming up with, or manufacturing out of thin air, are already 'baked in the cake'.   I don't care if Trump paid off a porn star or called Omarosa a dog.  I didn't vote for him because he was going to act presidential, I voted for him mainly because he wasn't Hillary and also because I hoped he would actually do what he said he would do, ie appoint conservative judges, lower taxes, and get illegal immigration under control.  So far he's two for three and would be three for three if not for all the obstruction.

Reagan didn’t make the Democraps out to be evil incarnate....he made them a joke.

democrooks don’t mind being demonized (they like it) they can’t stand being made to look like fools

I pay enough attention to know what is going on but I do not let it consume my life. I have always thought many (not all) of the people who let politics be the most important aspect of their lives must live some pretty shitty lives.

I have to agree about the hero worship crap, particularly on the other site. I voted for him, and will again, but the dude has a knack for stepping on his dick. Be critical of him, and you get torched with how awesome he is at everything. And, since you dared speak against him, you get labeled a scum eating liberal... It's just childish at times.

Yes sir.

I still pay attention and enjoy talking politics on forums such as this one. The hysteria over every little thing President Trump says or does is astonishing to me. I truly thought things would settle down a bit by now. My wife and I share an ongoing joke when I finally turn on the news for the first time in the day. "Well, lets see if Trump has blown up the world today." That's what the media seems to push breathlessly and continually.

Keeping it in perspective is wise. Worry about what you can actually change (which is little) and go about enjoying life. I vote every single time the polls are open. I've been known to contact my congress critters on some of the bigger issues. Beyond that? :dunno:

DemocRATS have always been in my opinion, the lowest of the low when it comes to politics.  The Absolutely Sleezyest of the Sleezy.  But since Trumps Election....it truly pleases me to no end to finally SEE them, literally,  unabashedly come out of the woodwork with their extreme Hate and FINALLY SHOW the American people and the whole world what they REALLY are inside.  They truly hate the American form of Government.  By todays standards, John F. Kennedy, back in the day was a Republican.  And...Martin Luther King was a Republican!!  Fancy that...

Today's "news" is what we click on.  If you don't want to see it as the top five headlines, don't click on it.  Profound world-wide events could be happening, but if kardashian's butt looks all jumbly today,  that will be the headlines because that's what our Idiocracy will click on.

Today's politics is he said/she said.  Turn off the stupid TV news and scan some headlines.  Pick ones that sound like real news;  there might be some.  FOX news has more skin along the margins than a decade's worth of playboy magazine.

Twitter isn't news.  It's more moronic opinions.

The NFL would've never been political if no one cared.  But many here are incensed with it.  So it'll never go away.
