Leftovers/Wasting Food

Recommended Posts

I'm making a meat loaf tonight with moose I killed and butchered myself. Raspberry pie for desert. Grew the raspberries. If I kill it or grow it, I HATE to see it go to waste. Seldom does that ever happen. First of all, the meat I kill is fresh and not already aged when I buy it, so it can sit thawed in the refer for a long time and still be good. Same after it's been cooked. I think most people are too far removed from their food or they wouldn't be so wasteful. Even in the city you can grow some of your own.

I do not waste food and dislike to see people do so. I grew up very poor and we barely had enough to eat most days and while in the Army there were many times food was not available so I hate food waste!

My wife is Korean and she also grew up very poor with not enough to eat most times.

Everything gets eaten at our house, cook just enough or when dining out order only what you can eat.

I like having leftovers handy in the fridge. If I run the Kamado I cook up enough meat to eat several meals. Wintertime big pots of chili or beef barley soup. Just one of me so cooking just enough for one meal is kinda pointless unless it’s quick and simple.

almost nothing gets thrown out. I eat a fair amount of wild game too.
