Silentpoet
Headed down that way next week. We will be staying with friends in Weatherford. Looking for places to eat and stuff to see. How’s the zoo? We used to go when I was a little kid.
kerbie18
I've never even been there myself, but I've always wanted to see the battleship Texas.
mmcbeat
Quite a bit to do in DFW. Lots of great restaurants. There is always a debate over the Dallas vs the Fort Worth zoo. There is a memorial in Dallas where Kennedy was assassinated. GT Distributors in Dallas. The Perot museum is outstanding. In North Fort Worth there is a U.S. Treasury that prints currency and offers free tours.
blackjack
Weatherford to Dallas is a pretty good trek across the Metroplex so plan accordingly. Plenty to do on the Ft. Worth side with less driving. If you are a BBQ person, lots of options and I personally recommend Hard Eight in either Stephenville or Burleson as the closest locations to Weatherford. I liked the Amon Carter Museum of American Art. A trip to the Ft. Worth Stockyards for some cowboy history.

Some time ago I was there on business and they told me they did guided tours of the manufacturing facility. I was shown the F-16 assembly plant and it was absolutely amazing. From a block of Aluminum at one end, to a flying aircraft at the other! Marvelous to see. The Stockyards for food is amazing, for the amount of persons they can handle. Also the location of an old West Shootout.

KWalrad
6 hours ago, kerbie18 said: Yeah I probably don't know what I'm talking about, my bad. Nah... Four hours drive or so. For Fort Worth, try The Stockyards, stop in at Billy Bob's for an ice cold Shiner Bock, then most over to the White Elephant Saloon for another. Get yourself some calf fries and a nice steak at Riskys. Head of to Joe T. Garcia's for some enchiladas or fajitas. Hit up the Fort Worth zoo. Head down I-30, stop in Arlington and tour Jerry's World (Cowboys Stadium) and The Ballpark in Arlington (Texas Rangers) for the stadium tour. Hit up Six Flags or Hawaiian Falls for fun with the kids. If it's a weekend, stop down in Grand Prairie and drag a cooler full of beers through Trader's Village while munching a turkey leg. Continue on into Dallas for the zoo, tour The Six Floor museum and Dealey Plaza. Check out the Perot museum, stop down at Clive Warren park and hit up one of the many food trucks. Head up Harry Hines for a hooker and herpes and try out one of the strip clubs. Walk through one of the bizaarres and get an elote. Ride to the top of Reunion Tower for a night time dinner and see the city from above. Call me, and I'll by you a beer, cheeseburger and onion rings at Keller's. Push your trip back a month and check out The State Fair of Texas. Whatever you do, c'mon down, say "Howdy", and have a good time! For what it's worth, I prefer Fort Worth's zoo over Dallas'. YMMV.
TX OMFS
Ft Worth zoo > Dallas zoo, and your chances of getting in a shoot-out are lower at the FTW zoo. The Perot Museum in Dallas is very good for kids. The Ft Worth Stockyards are cool. The JFK museum in Dallas is great. There are plenty of major & minor league sports if you're interested.
Silentpoet
I’m going to a Rangers game on Tuesday. Game time is 705. What time do I need to be there? Parking options that are fairly close. I will have my mom and her friend, so two ~75 year old ladies. Not in bad shape but I don’t want to be a mile away. Got seats about 20 rows back near 3rd base. Also, any good gyms? I’m not as strong as I used to be but maybe seeing some serious lifting might inspire me a bit. Actually my current gym is pretty decent. The owner is an 800 pound squatter. But I would like to catch a workout or two while I’m there.
Silentpoet
Working on figuring out parking for the game. At least we will have a handicap placard. I’ve looked at the map of lots. But how long before the game should we be there? Looking at the various restaurants people have recommended and trying to make an itenirary.
