DWARREN123
Don't walk your dog near the gators and then wrestle the gator.
PATCHMAN
Tragic way to go.
willie-pete
A lot of people in Florida walk their gator snacks around the lakes here. Sometime it doesn't end well. Six weeks ago, for instance. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2018/06/08/woman-walking-dogs-attacked-likely-killed-gator-florida/685731002/

Cpt.J
I grew up in the Louisiana swamp. Alligators were a part of life. They have excellent hearing and will seek out a barking dog a mile away. Once in the middle of night we were awakened to our deer hounds barking fearlessly .They did not have a chance on their chain. It was a sad but hard lesson learned.Since the incident we have built kennels off ground out of gators reach. The pics below or in our backyard. We have a crawfish farm and dealing with gators and snakes on a daily basis, we know they are there and respect their danger. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/20/woman-killed-after-alligator-dragged-her-into-hilton-head-lagoon-was-trying-to-protect-dog-investigators.htmlSent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

syntaxerrorsix
This same thing happened here about a month ago. Exact same scenario. This was the gator that was blocking the 10' wide trail on one of my hikes. This was hiding in a culvert. I could have poked him between the eyes. His head was nearly as wide as the pipe. It's mating season and they are out and about and they will eat you.
M&P15T
FWIW, if it's between the gator eating your dog or you, let it have the dog.

windowasher
The dog would be just the diversion needed to get away from the Gator. Of course, had the women been carrying, she could have won the argument and had a new pair of boots out of the encounter...
Walt Longmire
What about the dog? What happened to the dog?
M&P15T
I do believe the dog was fine. The idiot woman traded her life for the dog's.
