Millennial Couple Bikes Near ISIS Territory to Prove ‘Humans Are Kind’ and Gets Killed

"Jay Austin and Lauren Geoghegan, both 29, last year quit their office jobs in Washington, DC, to embark on the journey.  Austin, a vegan who worked for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and Geoghegan, a vegetarian who worked in the Georgetown University admissions office, decided that they're were wasting their lives working. Why can't we all just love one another - there really are no bad people - let's all come together and be nice together - make the world a better place - Hare Krishna Rama Krishna ...

EXTREMELY FLAWED AND DECEPTIVE THINKING.

And now they understand that.

I have a lot of new hires that want projects in places like this.  When I try to explain that a 22 yr old white girl is very unsafe in Mali or Sudan the'll say things like "I'm not political (BS) so I'll be OK" or "But I sympathize with their struggle".  Some have gotten furious that I wouldn't send them to be gang raped and murdered.

Living in their dream world, not the Real World.  This is what happens when you are raised so overprotected you cannot even conceive of the notion that someone might actually want to hurt you, much less kill your sorry stupid ass.

Yeah, that wasn't a smart move.

I get their motivation for wanting to quit their jobs and experience life, but their choices in doing so got them killed.

Central Colorado, now that's a nice and challenging place to ride a bike. Start in Estes Park and work your way west.

Stupid is frequently painful (nature's way of driving the lesson home), and occasionally fatal (nature's way of expelling you from school when you're determined to be unteachable).

Apparently Mother Nature decided they were too dumb to absorb their lessons.  I'm afraid I can't muster a lot of sympathy for a pair of adults who chose to travel voluntarily to a place partway around the world where a good portion of the population simply hates them for what they are and would happily see them meet their maker (and are more than willing to facilitate said meeting).  It's not like they were in LA or the like for vacation, took a wrong turn and ended up in the hood - they planned their trip knowing of, but dismissing the dangers to 'prove' a point, and expended a good deal of effort to go there.  That's just plain stupid.
