Moeman
Been there took this... only safe thing for this idiot is they are well feed on salmon .... wife likes watching the video feed and saw a cub killed by a big bear. They have excellent viewing platforms can’t image why. Now inland bears are on the hunt all the time. Had to take a float plane to get there
willie-pete
Had a guy that worked for me in WV. Always took the week off at bear season. Always came back with one. With a bow.

It's usually just one arrow. I keep the shots close. Bow cranked up to 80 pound draw. Plenty of kinetic energy.

I'm guessing the backup revolver is more for carnivores than the elk. He just said it was "for backup." I never asked against what. The core of the message I got was - bow hunting is cool, but if your life is on the line better have a firearm.

I did torch one off a few years ago in front of a charging cow moose while bow hunting. She didn't care for how close I got, and came at me ears back, head down. Turned at the last second or I would have used the 2nd shot to plug her.
