Mr. Black
A stolen commuter airliner. I still can't believe it. I was with my family out shooting family trap night at a range when a Dash 8 Turboprop blasted overhead at less than 500 feet. I knew immediately that something was not right.
Huaco Kid
I only learned how to take-off. I don't know how to land it.

Mr. Black
News travels fast around here. When we heard the sonic booms of the F15s it was crazy intense for a few minutes.

Mr. Black
Safe to say it has officially been crashed. Or shot down. I actually kind of hope it was shot down. I hope no one was injured or killed on the island that he hit.
Mr. Black
Watch the video marked explicit language. That was taken about a half mile from where we were at the trap range. Totally coincidently that was taken by my brother in laws neice while it was going on. Crazy. https://komonews.com/news/local/stolen-plane-forces-ground-stop-at-seatac-airport
Administrators Rabbi Posted August 11, 2018 Administrators Share Posted August 11, 2018 Seems like it was a suicidal guy that worked at the airport. He flat out radioed in he was going to nose it in.
willie-pete
Well, if you are going to take yourself out; you might as well do it in a 30 or 40 million dollar aircraft. Kind of reminds me of the guy that stole the C-130 in England years ago.
Mr. Black
There is a truly remarkable video floating around out there this morning of him trying to do a barrel roll. He almost put it into the water on that move.

Well up until he crashed it, of course. 2
Airmotive
I listened to the whole exchange with air traffic control. He sounded like a nice guy...just a couple screws loose.(his own words). Flew around for 90 minutes. ATC did an amazing job keeping him engaged. http://garchives1.broadcastify.com/15227/20180810/201808102255-590200-15227.mp3 Edited August 11, 2018 by Airmotive

If I try and land there they are gonna rough me up.
crockett
What the actual ****?! What an *******. He could have killed hundreds even if he didn't intend to. How many fagits will now hold onto this idea and copycat this bullshit? And all this will only lead to even more regulation, loss of privacy and security checkpoints. If you are done, go in the woods and shoot your head of the shoulders. But don't take your problems out on society. I got no sympathy for tools like that. Especially when you are into aviation and know local patterns. Reminds me of our local airport. In very rare situation they reroute late night logistics traffic over my house. Happens maybe once every 2 years. Never feels right seeing them coming in this way.
Huaco Kid
I'm guessing that he "went DB Cooper", and is now happily squirreled away in his bungalow on a PNW island. If he was officially at work, will the insurance still pay up? He'll disappear for a few years and then meet up with his wife in Cabo.

PNWguy
That was one of the planes that services our little local airport on this side of the state. Wonder what meds he was on that failed him...
