DonMerlin
I worked at a Texaco station in high school. Checked the tires & oil, washed the windows. All for $3 worth of gas.

Regular was 33.9 and I think I was hauling in$2.65 an hour. Edited August 7, 2018 by DonMerlin

Wayward Son
After WWII my grandfather came home to Pretty Prairie Kansas and managed a service station for awhile. The station sat by itself on the highway a mile east of town one night an out of state car pulls in and wants a fill up. As my grandfather is pumping the gas he sees this guy's reflection in the cars window. The guy had a large crescent wrench cocked back over his shoulder ready to strike my grandfather. Grandpa stuck the gas nozzle in the guys face, told him to drop the wrench and leave. My dad still has that wrench in his shop. 4 1

I fill my KW at an out of the way pump that only takes the owners key card. Often late at night. When I finish I crank the fuel caps down with a huge channel lock wrench for 2 reasons. So they don't leak fuel onto the tank, and so the weenie armed tweakers can't get the cap off. Well there I am with that huge wrench in my hand that I used to loosen the caps when I'm fueling. I figure if I slap some tweaker up along side the head with it we'd all be good.

Batesmotel
I literally grew up in gas stations. I love them. Especially the smell. Nothing like new stations.
