TBO
A helmet-clad man has been taken into police custody after over 20 college students claimed to suffer sexual harassment from his lewd acts around Seoul’s college campuses, police said Friday. The 39-year-old man, surnamed Seong, has been accused of sexually harassing university students by flashing his genitals to them while riding around on a motorcycle from March to June on 24 occasions, according to Seongbuk Police Station. Victims from Kookmin University, Sungshin Women’s University and Korea University said Seong initially blared his horn to grab their attention, then pulled down his pants. Some victims also say Seong grabbed their arms, making sure they would see his exposed private parts. News of Seong’s alleged public lewd acts went viral via social media, as Kookmin University students shared their traumatic accounts and warned, “Beware of the motorcycle pervert.” After tracking down Seong with surveillance footage, police said they had requested a court warrant to arrest the alleged flasher on June 13. But, the Seoul Northern District Court dismissed the request on the notion that Seong would not flee the jurisdiction. Police said they plan to make another request for the arrest warrant early next week after taking down more witness statements. link
