Did he have a valid CCW permit or was he illegally carrying a concealed weapon?

He had a "replica handgun that contained a knife blade."

The irony that a trans man had a phallic transformer weapon was not lost on me.

It's Los Angeles.

No one that commits a crime is jailed, indicted, tried or convicted and even if, by some remote chance they are, they are sentenced to fifteen minutes of Barbra Streisand music.

Corporate media will announce that he is a brave, committed, social justice warrior for attacking a racist comic.

Book and movie deals to follow.

If that miscreant is homeless, the city government will provide a room in a five-star hotel, free room service and all of the heroin he can consume.

A friend works for Orange County. He sees millions and millions of taxpayers dollars lost because county government refuses to stop, let alone prosecute crimes against public instillations. Think about a public infrastructure project stopping dead in its tracks because a bunch of homeless, drug addicts grab an old camper, set up camp and claim the land as their residence. Criminal activity skyrockets in the area but no one will do a thing except attack homeowners and businesses for the trash and vandalism left behind.

The inmates are running the asylum.

I suggest that we are allowing the inmates to run the asylum.

What a craven society we have become.

:sigh:

At some point, we either say no, or accept that civilized society is not only extinct, but actively opposed by those with huge houses surrounded by high walls.

I wonder how the Chinese will treat the entitled homeless when the communists occupy California?

Probably won't be free needles and food stamps.

I remember the housing crisis circa 2008, the era of liers loans, when many many foreclosures took place. In many situations foreclosed properties were grouped into large bundles and auctioned as a group. Have heard that many such auctions were won by Chinese, Mid-East oil, major investment houses, and converted into rental properties. Have also heard that a lot of the new houses are going to deep pockets and directly into the rental market. “You will own nothing and be happy.”

Recall that Obama allowed the Chinese, heck, he encouraged it, to buy a major shipping port in Los Angeles.

Trump made them give it back.

Biden will likely sell Hawaii to the Chinese communists as long as the Big Guy gets 10%.

Carter gave the Panama Canal away. Wonder how much Chinese money is behind the new sets of locks to accommodate really huge container ships? And who really owns most such ships? And could/would US Navy super carriers be allowed to use these locks?

How ironic that republicans built the canal but democrats, who didn't own it, gave it away.

No.

But, if it is done right, the US Navy has fleets in both Pacific and Atlantic oceans, so they rarely need to send ships from one to the other.

After China conquers (they will say, unified) Taiwan, advanced or even common computer chips will no longer be available to companies unless they are in China.

The hippie Marxists have already given away any US production capability.

The Big Guy got 10%.

My company got caught in this when Congress mandated Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) for military electronics.

Cinco de Mayo is not the Mexican Independence Day. It is the celebration of the victory at the Battle of Puebla, Mexico. But, that does not mean it’s less important or notable than it actually is, for the history behind it dawns on the importance of the landscape of North America as a whole.
An economically-struggling Mexico was intervened by the French for the second time, who had the hopes to gain control of the Latin American country under the rule of Napoleon III. The French General, Charles de Lorencez, directed his army towards the capital of Mexico City, with the intent to overthrow the president of Mexico, Benito Juarez.
But things didn’t go as planned, as they encountered heavy resistance, culminating at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Even if their forces had half the numbers of their opponents, the Mexican Army, led by Ignacio Zaragoza, managed to successfully win over the French army at Puebla, a city just 70 miles from Mexico City. Four days later, on May 9, Juárez declared Cinco de Mayo a national holiday.
While the battle in itself was not a major strategic win, and the French took control of Mexico in 1864, it served to lift the spirits of resistance forces, and helped them to gain an alliance with the Americans.

The truth about the Battle of Puebla, aka, Cinco de Mayo.
The Mexican victory over the French army at the Battle of Puebla occurred May 5th, 1862, 50 years after Mexico’s Independence Day, which is September 16th. What Americans are celebrating is the deceptive brewing companies leading you around by the nose like lambs to the bar taps. Incidentally, most Mexicans are surprised at the amount of celebrations in the U.S. for the Battle of Puebla.
