My mother's car was a 1963 Tempest, 2-door and it was the automobile I learned to drive in and got to use after I got my license.

Hers had the 194 CI inline four cylinder -- basically, half of a 283.

It was an automatic and the shifter was a small lever hanging from under the dash.

Forget not the flexible drive line in place of the traditional propeller shaft .  basically, a really thick speedometer cable.

It was white and had a red, plaid vinyl interior.

Heater, but no air conditioning and an AM, push-button radio.  The vinyl seats got a bit sticky in the summer.

A lot of innovations in that series from Pontiac.

It was a decent automobile for the times.

Here's some really interesting technical information on the early 60's Pontiac Tempest:

Very cool car but it should have Desoto Firedome Hemi in it. Chrysler Hemi's were 331, 354, and 392 but the biggest Hemi Desoto made was a 361 but it was rated at 345 horsepower with high compression heads, and could make even more power with headers, a cam, and improved carburetion, fuel injection, and a high flow intake manifold.

I'm gonna assume that the owner or builder used what he had or what he could afford or what he preferred.

Just a reminder for the young'uns, DeSoto was a division of Chrysler Corporation.

It went away sometime around the early 1960s, if I remember.

They sponsored the original You Bet Your Life with Groucho Marx.

Yes, I can recall automobiles and television programs from the 1950s, but have trouble recalling what I had for lunch yesterday.  :fred:

Is this chopped? Doesn’t appear to have been sectioned or channeled.

Quote from the Hemmings.com article:

"A 1932 DeSoto coupe street rod isn’t something you see every day, but when it’s a bright yellow metallic one with a chopped top like this one, it’s something memorable. This DeSoto was first restored in 1959, according to the seller, who is representing the car for a friend, its current owner, who bought it in 1975. Even though the car is a two-seater coupe, it accommodates four passengers thanks to the rarely seen rumble seat. The seller adds that this 1932 DeSoto is “100-percent street legal and can be driven anywhere.”"

1955 Chevrolet Nomad Custom Wagon.

This is ONE FINE NOMAD. I would love to put some shocks on it and see what it looked like if it wasn’t dragging the ground, other than that, I’ve never seen a more detailed Nomad. The leather interior is over the top for detail.
