Alive and Kicking

I didn't know Hal Linden was still alive. Apparently him (92) and Wojo(89) are the last two of the detective cast still with us. I believe the lady that played Barney Miller's wife is still alive as well.

I loved watching Barney Miller, as a kid. I rewatched part of the series a few years ago and still enjoyed it immensely. It was a well-written show and it had heart. Abe Vigoda was my hands-down favorite. Fish was one of the coolest characters in sitcom history. It is amazing that a guy who could play that part so well could also play a chillingly believable badguy.

Looks pretty good for 92!

Loved that show! Sure beats the snot out of most of the crap on TV today.

High School, very impressionable.  It went through my generation like a wildfire.

I remember seeing that movie (1955) in the balcony of, IIRC the Kings Theater in Brooklyn NY, after the first showing they closed the balcony I think they were afraid that the stomping to the music would

cause it to collapse

There were a lot of classy actors on Barney Miller.  I thought Ron Glass did a great job of shattering a few stereotypes.

Whereas Max Gail really embraced the Polack stereotype and gave the character some legs.

Still one of my favorite sitcoms.  It's always fun to watch and see which actors end up in the cage for the episode.

Gotta love good character actors,

I loved Ron Glass in the Firefly series and Serenity movie. My greatest regret about Firefly's sudden cancellation is that I will never get to see his character develop. I imagine they had some interest stuff in store for him.

Au contraire!  It must have been awhile since you've seen Serenity, but they killed his character (Shepard Book) off.  Kinda pissed me off big time. :angryfire:

But, I am convinced that his character was a somewhat rogue and on the run, yet retired sort of operative like the one played by Chiwetel Ejiofor in Serenity.

And while we're on the subject (somewhat tangentially) did you happen to notice that Summer Glau grew up?  :perfect10:

They killed him off in the movie. The movie only happened because the series got cancelled the way it did. I think Book would have had a long and storied existence if the series had continued.

And I noticed Summer Glau. I enjoyed her in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles series. She played an outstanding terminator, although it was kind of the same role she played in Firefly/Serenity.

Sadly, he is not alive and probably not kicking, but I just found this pic. I've never seen a picture of him young. He had apparently just graduated from Boot Camp here.
