Electric vehicles - what's the scam?

I know I'm preaching to the choir here and none of y'all actually believe we can replace internal combustion engines with vibrator motors. I think the movement is about a lot of companies to which the Dims are beholden making a lot of money before folks inevitably have to admit the concept won't work. Then they'll unveil the new hybrid tech and we can get back to the business of business.

What am I missing?

If they can shame you into buying a short-ranged electric vehicle that creates a huge dirty environmental impact both in the production and again in the disposal of the relatively short-lived batteries, all in the name of "saving the planet", they can get you to buy in to letting them tax you for carbon credits to "pay your fair share" to "offset" environmental pollution the Chinese are actually creating.

Tyrannical bastards.  No.  Not for me.

Electric cars and digital cash. Both can be deactivated if the “owners” don’t comply with orders such as “get your fifth booster this week”.

Actually, so can most, if not all new gas and diesel powered vehicles.

My wife has a new Toyota Vensa and can brick her car if it is stolen. You don't think that the ability to do that is limited to just her do you?

As for EVs. They are coming, like it or not.

To the title of this thread.

What's the scam? The scam is that electric vehicles are NOT good for the environment.

I can say the same about some of the emissions controls on internal combustion powered vehicles too, but that is for another thread.

They're not quite ready for prime time, yet still being forced down our throats.  No thank you.

Where are the cars from the Jetsons that I was promised as a kid?

The guy that promised you those Jetson cars ended up stranded on Gilligans Island.:-)

I think that a lot of people who lease cars will be keeping their "old" cars past the lease end if they can't get a new ICE engine-ed car in the model that they like...

And there will be an uptick in price of the last of the ICE cars too, as those "close out"

This whole BULLSHIT push sucks

As more of these BOMBS catch fire and burn to the ground will people begin to realize  the danger...   NAH

Ya know, it seems to me that "WE" on TBS are just a bunch of mostly OF's preaching to each other....no one in the General Public reads this  or cares what WE think ..........(blah    blah.... I ramble on)

It's all fun and games until the shooting starts.  It's hard to ignore that commentary.  And some of us are quite eloquent and dgaf.

:goodpost::abovelol: THIS! :agree2:

Where do we start with debunking this scam.  The tip of the iceberg?

  1. Rare Earth Materials

Mining rare earth materials for batteries is an ecological disaster.  The countries that allows the materials to be harvested with no environmental controls are the ones that are going to be making money on this.  Once EV production ramps up, there will not be enough rare earth materials to go around so prices will skyrocket.  And what about recycling old batteries?  This is another ecological disaster.

At least when they burn, the smoke won't contain any of those nasty polluting byproducts of burning hydrocarbons.

As with many of the "Save the planet" scams. It is a game of smoke and mirrors.

If you really want to see the primary positive effect of this and other "green" ideas. Just follow the money trail.

But when they are in a garage - especially a basement garage - the building they burn down will emit more than enough of those pollutants.

Won’t take many of those EV taking out house fires before vehicle and homeowners/renters policies start to exclude such losses.

BTW do buildings burn up or down?

I have no gripe with new technology.  I just want to know how we are going to be able to generate enough additional electricity to power all those cars.  So far I haven't heard an answer from the greenie weenies.

And no, I don't believe that windmills and solar panels are going to be the answer.

the tech will also make us even more under the thumb of the Chi Coms.  If the greenies could convince me that all of the components are going to be made here in the States I might get on board.

The only thing you're missing is that as long as politicians have control over the business sector real innovation will never be allowed to grow and when the government controls industry that's actually one definition of Fascism and while they might be able to make the trains run on time, eventually after they're done mis-managing the economy to destroy the middle class, only the privileged will be able to have private transportation and the underclasses will have no choice as far as what kind of transportation is available to them
