Administrators Eric Posted November 30, 2022 Administrators Share Posted November 30, 2022 Is the ‘you’ that wakes up in the morning the same ‘you’ that went to sleep the night before, or was Vincent Price correct when he called sleep, ‘Little slices of death’?
Huaco Kid
I don't even have days or nights, anymore. Just hours. I usually sleep like a baby and wake up fully refreshed.
Batesmotel
Between a lifetime of insomnia and A.S. don’t really get much sleep. 1
gwalchmai
I think it's the same you. Consciousness continues through sleep but at a different level than waking.
Pima Pants
Even with a CPAP machine and supplemental oxygen I wake up exhausted and angry, so I agree with the "little slices of death" quote. I get better after 2-4 cups of coffee.

minervadoe
Factor a nice caffeine addiction into the equation and we get a true Jekyll and Hyde scenario. Not to be confused with Heckle and Jeckle.
Mrs.Cicero
I don't think I'm the same person from one day to the next. Not in a crazy sense. Just in the sense that overnight my brain has a chance to rewire itself with yesterday's experiences, that night's dreams, and whatever weird neurologic processes are going on, thanks to normal physiology and also to whatever the longterm effects of a TBI are, etc. And there are some things I'm intentionally trying to rewire - habits I don't like, habits I'd like to have. Besides which, does anyone really know another person? And if we change over time, do we ever really know ourselves? And where is my caffeine?

Been sleeping in the guest room for a couple of years just so my wife can sleep through the night. 1

I spend many nights sitting here at the computer wondering who is up with me on the Bore Sight. Seems a few are. Then when the sun comes up I go to bed and sleep. Don't know why. My wife used to complain that she sleeps at night and I sleep during the day. So, she has been staying up with me all night watching crappy movies while playing Solitaire on her Kindle, with me, and napping with me during the day. She is a gift from God.

When I really can't sleep I end up with more screen time to tire my eyes. End up napping in the afternoon and then rinse and repeat. I never really slept well but it's gotten a lot worse over the last 8 to 10 years. 1
