Huaco Kid
The tangy ones? Or the kind that taste meaty? They're the best. Cooking usually kills them. 2
DAKA
The one time I made Grits that had bugs (I did not know there were bugs when I ate it) I got a severe case of ....bathroom ... ,,, Then I discovered the bugs in the bag... I've since bought 2 different kinds of Grits, both had bugs, now in the flour...OR did I not notice them before...ewwwww 1
gwalchmai
Bugs in the flour is an old Southern tradition. Those big (gallon size?) ziplock bags will hold a 5lb bag of flour, sugar, etc.

Toss everything that has been opened and set up some pantry moth traps. Those bastards will eat everything. 34 minutes ago, FullClip said: Weevils add proteins to the mix. I still remember the taste of weevils. Yuck. When I was in grade school, I was spending the night with one of our community's "uppity" families. They had a tradition where pops would set out bowls and pour in cereal before he went to bed, so the kids could just add milk for breakfast. The next morning, they noticed I was not partaking in the cereal and asked if something was wrong. I said, "I don't like to eat weevils, thanks." The had no idea what a weevil was, nor that they were all eating them. I said, "the little black things, they aren't dark rice crispies, they are bugs." There was much embarrassment.

Walt Longmire
I brought bugs of some kind home in my groceries years ago. I tossed lots of stuff, still had bugs. I dumped ground cloves in the cupboards I saw them in. Gone. 1
LostinTexas
Sift them out. Not very appetizing, but that is how they did it during the depression. Best practice is to freeze meal and grain products for a couple of weeks then store in airtight containers. Eggs are in there, no matter how carefully they are processed. Seems to work for me.
