This Red-Blue crap is confusing.

I live in Utah. The big rivalry here is the University of Utah VS Brigham Young University. BIG Rivalry. I mean almost insane.

U of U. Extremely Liberal. Color’s are Scarlet Red and White.

BYU. Ultra Conservative. Color’s are Royal Blue and White.

And people around here argue sports, politics, religion, economics and social issues in terms of Red (liberal) and Blue (conservative).

didn't it used to be conservatives were blue and liberals were red a long time ago, but the liberals didn't want to be obviously associated with red communism so convinced the media or whoever to switch the colors?

The whole red and blue as it relates to politics is completely a result of the lame stream media. It has switched several times at the seemingly whim of the press.

My personal preference is red for leftists, close to their communist persuasion and blue for the conservative patriots and the blue coats of the revolutionary war.

Interesting. Every Mormon I have ever met, and it certainly isn't all of them, have been far left liberal socialists. 

We have some California friends that are right wing conservative there, but by comparison, seem pretty lefty to me. I like them a lot, but some of the stuff they come up with,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yes.  I'm old enough to remember when the Reps were Blue and the Dems were Red.  It's been at least 20 years since the MSM switched the colors, though.  And yes, the commies wanted to hide their commie leanings behind a blue flag...
