The problem with parody is that it is believable by ignorant people.  Then the problem is compounded by the ignorant people finding out they have been duped and every one else now knows how stupid they are.  To save themselves from even more embarrassment, the ignorant try to invoke the rule of kindness that says you must protect a species that cannot protect itself.

So now the embarrassed ignorant look to someone else to protect them from their own ignorance, which is almost always impossible.  This is the reason that lawyers exist.
