Varley was pretty creative, if a bit nutty. I always wanted Hollywood to do the trilogy, but not so much anymore. They'd probably make Titanides out of Shetland Ponies and Angels would look like Spooge's Woman... 

That trilogy has far too many subtleties and nuances that Hollywood could never understand, much less portray.

However, creating all of the weird lifeforms in the story would be a special effects person's delight.

When I first read the series, Pam  Grier  was in my mind for the Cirroco Jones character.
