Mrs.Cicero
I'd think Texas would want the companies, but not the Californian staff, since they'd vote in Texas as transplants... 2
tous
Law in Texas is, you must own at least five firearms, own a pickup truck or have owned a pickup truck in the last five years AND agree that the OU football team sucks before we'll let y'all in. You must also agree that Whataburger is far better than In and Out. If your answer to the question, What is you favorite Mexican food is Taco Bell, we'll point you on to Oklahoma and help you get there. 1

I'm good on the first sentence, butI've never eaten in a Whataburger or an In-and-Out. I will say Taco Hell is definitely NOT Mexican.
janice6
I 0have never eaten at Taco Bell in spite of the fact that my grand daughter manages one. I love her, just not the food she serves there. 1

We like to poke fun at Taco Bell, but considering that Glen Bell took a chance, sunk his savings and reputation into an idea and worked his ass off to make it succeed, we owe him an atta boy. The food isn't Mexican food, it is what a white, middle-class Southern Californian thought was Mexican food in the early 1960s. He apparently was able to convince the rest of the white, middle-class folk all over the country. Yes, the food isn't great, but it is filling and inexpensive. Here's to you, Glen.

They aren't to bad. It's fast food that looks like Mexican. Just like McDonalds is fast food that looks like burgers. Well, shouldn't hold Taco Bell to that standard, they are usually much better. Mostly tasty, inexpensive and filling as tous pointed out. Pretty consistent across the locations as well.

I eat there from time to time. If I want mexican food I have to either make it or travel at least two hours, takes that long to reach a couple places that are run by real honest to God Mexicans, and they make amazing food. My mexican friend likes taco bell, he says "I'm in the mood for cheesy slop, let's eat at Taco bell" So, Taco Bell it is for lunch that day. Couple days later he says "I'm feeling like I might risk some cat hairs in my lunch." and you guessed it, we go to the chinese food place. 3
gwalchmai
Worst alimentary distress I've ever experienced occurred about a day and a half after eating at the Taco Bell. I puked my tailbone out. Took me at least a year to work up the nerve to eat there again.

I don't think the fast food eating sheep in this country needed too much convincing. How's that saying go? If you build (or in this case cook) it, they will come.

minervadoe
The only time I've ever been to Texas, I was catching a connecting flight in an airport. So the only Tex Mex food I've ever had was from a restaurant in Mountain View, California that I used to frequent. Pretty much all I remember was that I liked the food, and they served beer; lots of beer.
