Try to hold three book matches with the heads together.  Two facing one direction and a single one facing 180 degrees from the other two.

Then light one of the three matchsticks, as it burns, switch your fingers to another match stick.  when the three heads light the matches will spread their legs and then come back together.

I think this is the logical extension of your "enchanting kiss of physics".  Although my version is a little more graphic.
